TPS25740B USB Type-C & USB PD Source Controller Texas Instruments TPS25740B USB Type-C & USB PD Source Controller implements a source without any firmware configuration and is certified for USB Power Delivery 2.0 version 1.2 and Type-C™ revision 1.2. This controller is designed to minimize time to market for the user. The device is designed to work seamlessly with any USB PD 3.0 compliant sink. The TPS25740B monitors the CC pin to detect when a USB Type-C sink is attached, then it enables an N-ch MOSFET gate driver to turn on VBUS. The device then offers four different voltages using USB Power Delivery. Three input pins (PSEL, HIPWR, and PCTRL) are used to configure the voltages and currents advertised. The device uses the CTL1, CTL2, and CTL3 pins to select the voltage from the power supply based on the voltage requested by the attached sink. The device automatically handles discharging the VBUS output per USB PD requirements.
