Ball bearings
Ball bearings absorb radial and axial forces and can also be used at high rotational speeds. In addition, they show little friction, can be made with very high accuracy, and can be used as silent solutions.
Due to its wide application (including in small and medium-sized electric motors) and favorable price, a ball bearing is the most commonly used rolling bearing.
They are available in an open version or sealed with ZZ protective plates (non-contact seal) or 2RS type rubber seals (contact seal). The seal can be one-sided or double-sided.
Bearings sealed on both sides are usually filled with lithium-based grease, which has good anti-corrosion properties and can be used in the temperature range from -30°C to +110°C. The bearings are lubricated for their entire service life and do not require supervision.
The amount of grease is adjusted to the size of the bearing and in most cases fills from 25 to 35% of the free space of the bearing.
Bearings with protective shields are intended primarily for bearing arrangements with a rotating inner ring. When the outer ring rotates, there is a risk of grease leaking from the bearing in larger rotating rings.
Bearings with low friction rubber seals meet the requirements of good sealing with minimum friction. The seal lips create a very narrow gap between the cylindrical surface of the inner ring rim so that the seal is virtually contactless.
Due to these properties, these seals, with better sealing efficiency, can operate at the same rotational speeds as bearings with protective shields.
