The breather is used to convert a double-acting cylinder into a single-acting cylinder.

To convert a double-acting cylinder into a single-acting cylinder, simply select a breather with an appropriate thread and screw it into one of the two hydraulic outputs on the cylinder.

As a rule, this is the upper exit, from the piston rod side.

The actuator converted in this way will work as a single-sided one.
