Contamination of the oil for which we use a filter most often occurs, in the case of organic contaminants, from the breakdown of the oil itself during operation, from fuel residues or from oxidation by-products. Mineral contaminants are air pollutants and metal particles that appear in the engine during operation. The filter is most often mounted on the side of the engine, and a clean, unused oil filter has a direct impact on the operation and life of the engine, fuel consumption, and in extreme cases, a clogged oil filter may lead to engine overheating and damage to the head gasket. Always replace the oil filter together with the oil change at the frequency specified in the machine's operating instructions.
