* How does the BMV monitor work? The primary function of the BMV monitor is to continuously track and indicate the state of charge of the battery, in particular to prevent unexpected complete discharge of the battery. The BMV monitor continuously measures the current flowing into and out of the battery. Integrating this current over a given time interval (which, if the current were a constant amount of amps over a given time interval, would be multiplying the value of this current by time) gives the net amp-hours Ah added or taken away.
For example: a discharge current of 10 A in 2 hours will take 10 x 2 = 20 Ah from the battery. The matter is somewhat complicated by the fact that the useful capacity of the battery depends on its discharge rate and, to a slightly lesser extent, on the temperature. The matter is further complicated by the fact that when charging the battery, more Ah energy is "pumped" into it than can be recovered during the next discharge. In other words: charging efficiency is less than 100%.
* Why should I monitor my battery? Batteries have many uses and are mainly used to store energy for later use. How can you check how much energy is stored in the battery? Just looking at the battery is not enough. The service life of a battery depends on many factors.
The service life is shortened by insufficient charging, overcharging, too deep discharging, excessive charging or discharging current, and high ambient temperature. By checking the battery using a technologically advanced monitor, the user receives important feedback, thanks to which he can - if necessary - take preventive actions. The effect is to extend the service life of the batteries, thanks to which the cost of purchasing the BMV is quickly recovered.

-️ BMV-712 is designed to minimize power consumption. The alarm relay is a bistable relay and the current consumption remains low regardless of the relay position.
In addition to full monitoring of the main battery system, the BMV-702 and -712 monitors have a second measurement input. When enabled, this auxiliary input has three configurable options as described below Measurement of additional battery voltage
Measurement of battery temperature
