Due to its wide application (including in small and medium-sized electric motors) and favorable price, ball bearings are the most frequently used rolling bearings.

They are available in an open version or sealed with ZZ type protective plates (non-contact seal) or 2RS type rubber seals (contact seal). The seal can be one-sided or double-sided.

Bearings sealed on both sides are usually filled with lithium-based grease, which has good anti-corrosion properties and can be used in the temperature range from -30°C to +110°C. The bearings are lubricated for their entire service life and do not require supervision.

Bearings with protective shields are intended primarily for bearing arrangements with a rotating inner ring. When the outer ring rotates, there is a risk of grease leaking from the bearing with larger rotating rings.
