SBS (Scandinavian Brake Systems) is a Danish company operating since 1964, producing braking components for motorcycles. Already in 1977, it was the first company in the world to produce asbestos-free brake pads. Over 40 years ago, the company focused on the constant development of friction materials and manufacturing processes, and thanks to this, SBS products are today at the highest global level, appreciated by superbike, Moto GP and long-distance racers. In addition, SBS brake pads are factory installed in some Yamaha motorcycle models. The SBS offer includes ceramic, sintered and carbon blocks. Brake pads used by top competitors, including: Andrzej Pawelec, James Toseland, Troy Corser, Shinja Nakano, Chris Vermeulen. They come in several versions: for everyday road riding, off-road riding and extreme competition on the track. They are characterized by a high coefficient of friction and a precise 'brake feel'.

The production process of SBS brake pads is based on 3 basic technologies:

NRS (Nucap Retention System) - a system for holding the lining.

The NRS system is used to ensure a stronger connection of the pad plate with the material friction. With NRS, the friction material and the plate become one integral part that cannot be torn apart, for example in the event of shock or high temperature. The holding system involves the use of special hooks, properly oriented on the surface of the plate, which are embedded in the friction material. The hooks are made with a special method patented by SBS.

UCT (Unifited Composite Technology) - uniform mixture technology. A unique technology for obtaining a homogeneous mixture of friction powder from which friction linings are produced.

The uniformity of the material ensures constant properties of all blocks of the same type and uniform wear.

DEST (Dynamic Energy Surface Treatment) - energetic surface treatment

The surface treatment is aimed at eliminating gassing of the friction material. Gassing produced at high temperatures can form a film between the disc and the friction material, reducing the braking force. DEST technology is used in STREET EXCEL brake pads for dynamic driving on public roads and on the race track.

During DEST treatment, the brake pads are subjected to high temperature, which causes complete degassing of the friction material.

Types of SBS pads:

STREET

SBS brake pads STREET are made of a ceramic mixture, designed for street use, free of asbestos and lead. They provide high durability and excellent properties in both wet and dry conditions, appreciated by everyday users and motorcycle tourists. Produced using UCT technology, which ensures a homogeneous structure and even wear. The pads available at other auctions are in two types: HF (High Friction - high coefficient of friction) for the front, and LF (Low friction - low coefficient of friction) for the rear brake calipers.

STREET EXCEL

SBS STREET EXCEL are brake pads made using sintered, designed for all modern sports motorcycles. Made using the highest technologies. They have been designed for use in situations where smooth and quick stopping is extremely important. STREET EXCEL pads ensure quick heat dissipation and do not lose their properties under the influence of temperature.

Produced using UCT technology, STREET EXCEL pads were created to meet a compromise between the maximum coefficient of friction and minimum wear of the brake disc.

The pads available at other auctions are in two versions types: HS (High Friction) for front and LS (Low Friction) for rear brake calipers.

OFF ROAD

SI brake pads

SI brake pads made of sinter for all off-road motorcycles.

Designed to meet high braking requirements in difficult conditions such as wet and mud. They do not damage brake discs. SBS SI brake pads are more durable than the factory ones and maintain constant properties throughout the entire range of their operation.

RACING

RSI brake pads (RACING OFF ROAD)

Special pads for sports competition in Motocross. Made of sintered metal, with a special recipe, they provide above-average, uniform and fading-free braking power regardless of terrain and weather conditions. Their parameters and behavior are checked and recommended by leading MX1 teams. The pads are intended only for competitive riding, available at other auctions for front and rear calipers.

RS brake pads (ROAD RACING - SINTER)

RS brake pads - made of sinter - for front brakes of sports motorcycles. Preferred by sports teams and amateur motorcyclists riding on the race track. RS pads available at other auctions are for most models of super sports motorcycles.

DC brake pads (ROAD RACING - DUAL CARBON)

SBS DC Dual Carbon blocks are made of a mixture of carbon and metal powder. They have high resistance to high temperatures and work best at this temperature. Constantly high temperature is required and therefore they are only allowed on the track. Carbon powder pads have such properties that during braking, when the pad contacts the steel disc, bonds are formed between the atoms of the disc and the pad, increasing the braking force. SBS DC Dual Carbon brake pads are used in motorcycle racing by winning Superstock, Supersport, Superbike and endurance racers.
