BMC recommends cleaning the filter approximately every 20-25,000 kilometers. The purpose of cleaning is to remove impurities from the filter surface so that it can be used throughout the life of the vehicle in which it is installed. BMC filters are constructed from multi-layered cotton gauze soaked in low viscosity oil, covered with an epoxy-coated alloy mesh to provide protection against gasoline vapors and oxidation caused by air humidity.
